  1. Thank you for posting the photos of Joanne Woodward in "From the Terrace". I was 16 when the movie came out and immediately became one of my favorites- 50 years later it's one of my 50 all-time favorites and one that I watch three or four times a year.

The screenplay, based in John O'Hara's book (my favorite author- now long forgotten except for "Appointment in Samarra"), is engaging and provocative. Paul was at the height of his beauty; Joanne never looked better, in fact she looks drop-dead gorgeous; Myrna Loy is in only two scenes but she should have been nominated for a supporting award; and Ina Balin, a young actress with a lovely, expressive face that positively glows in her romantic scenes with Paul. The soundtrack is sublime, specially the lush, deeply passionate love theme that's introduced during the opening credits and heard again only in the Newman/Balin love scenes.
